So, there are some updates on my away-from-apple project.

I successfully managed to get all my plugins to Windows, since my purchases included not only AU files but also Windows VST versions. Lucky me! Unluckily, i ran into some problems with Ardour crashing in Windows. Nothing i came up with helped. Finally i called for help in the Ardour Community and within minutes i got a response that solved my problem. Thanks again, guys!
Unfortunately the 64bit version of Ardour doesn’t load 32bit VSTs. So i was pointed to jbridge. But i didn’t manage to port my 32s to 64s successfully by now. So here is some work to be done for me. (Update: Don’t know exactly what i did wrong the first time but my 32bit VSTs have now been successfully jbridged. (mehr …)

I really used to like Apple. Ten years ago they did so many things right. CoreAudio was one such thing. Never was it easier to use audio interfaces, OSX was once designed especially to the needs of professional musicians. There was Garageband, there was Logic Pro (the mighty 7.2 version) and there were many other things i really liked so in 2008 i switched from Windows XP to Apple.
It took a while but then i embraced the Mac OS and got my first experiences with a UNIX system. I liked that every thing Apple did at that time just made sense and was functional. Macbooks just looked nice and when i first saw the inside of a Mac Pro the clean design blew me away.

Trotz meines letzten Beitrages, der die Aussicht, in absehbarer Zeit meine Audioproduktionen auf Linux abzuwickeln, doch eher düster erscheinen ließ, teste ich hin und wieder, ob ich den Schwenk auf Linux-Audio nicht doch hinbekomme. Dabei ergaben sich nun so langsam ein paar Erkenntnisse.
